January 11 storm flooded my studio and part of the house. Sadly this has forced me to close the gallery temporarily. I will be open again as soon as possible. This image shows our new creek flowing around the house through the courtyard and into the loungroom! There has been significant damage to the studio. I managed to save my paper, paints, easels, painting gear, books, and ceramics supplies. It is going to be some time before the whole thing is remedied. There may be a re-design of the gallery and studio in the immediate future. This may allow me to develop a teaching space within the gallery-studio, so perhaps a silver lining?
MAKING THE MOST OF IT...
That's my foot in the lower corner of the kiln room which suddenly looked more like a pond, and the poor kiln braving it out.
A corner of my poor studio, stripped and full of fans and de-humidifiers. Everything has been moved. A few old paintings on the bench salvaged, many painting panels and canvases stored under the paper table were ruined. The kiln, all the shelving, floating floor and many other things have to be replaced. Its going to be a bumpy ride!
Gallery room 2 has become my temporary studio. Seeing just how much I can fit in. Setup for new still life painting underway, as I had to move everything and set it up again I added some more elements; may as well make the most of it! Now to paint them into the picture...
