Sgraffito technique
Two test pieces made with sgraffito decorating technique. Yes sgraffito is "scratched" in Italian. What I love about the technique is it allows me to use my advanced drawing skills to decorate work by drawing through slip layered over a different coloured clay body or multiple layers of coloured slips.
I am working on a series of pieces which feature plants and animals in sgraffito using a various colours of slip and clay bodies.
